BEST TIME TO INTAKE VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS?



WATER SOLUBLE VITAMINS


VITAMIN C

Vitamin C plays many critical roles in your body. For example, it functions as a powerful antioxidant and is needed for immune health, as well as collagen and neurotransmitter synthesis.

You can take vitamin C supplements at any time of day, with or without food, although taking with foods can help decrease the potential stomach side effects .


VITAMIN B

with or without food and at any time of the day. That said, it’s often recommended to take B vitamins in the morning due to their important role in nutrient metabolism and energy production.


FAT SOLUBLE VITAMINS ( best taken with a meal or snack containing fat)

VITAMIN A

To promote optimal absorption, you should take vitamin A supplements with a fat-containing meal. It is rare that you need Vit A supplements and there are risks to taking too much !!


VITAMIN D

For immune function, bone health, cellular growth.

Take at any time of day.

It’s important to note that to metabolize vitamin D you need to be having having adequate levels of magnesium. As magnesium is best taken at night then this would suggest taking Vitamin D at that time if taking both.


VITAMIN E

Vitamin E functions as a major antioxidant in your body and is essential for blood flow and your immune function . It can be taken at any time.


VITAMIN K

Vitamin K is needed for blood clotting, bone and heart health. You can take it at any time with a meal containing fat


CALCIUM

Needed for skeletal upkeep your body must be able to absorb the calcium for it to be effective. Although safe to take anytime IF you’re taking MAGNESIUM thats best taken at night and calcium can affect its absorption.


MAGNESIUM

Needed to help bones and teeth but also great for reducing anxiety, pre- menstrual symptoms, twitchiness, lower BP and aid sleep.

Best taken at night with a small carbohydrate snack such as a low fat cracker


IRON

Needed to keep our red blood cells healthy and carry Oxygen around our body. Best taken an hour before breakfast on an empty stomach. Coffee and tea inhibit absorption.


ZINC

Needed to fight bacteria and aid our immune system zinc is best taken with a meal as it can cause stomach problems. Too much zinc can lead to health problems so best to try and source it in your diet.


Many take a multivitamin and this is best taken in the morning to prepare you for the day. Take with breakfast such as granary toast, low fat olive spread and an egg for balance and best absorption without gastric repercussions.
